U11 team record first victory!

Chippenham Under 11s won the toss and decided to field. Exning scored at a reasonable rate and finished on 255 for 4 from their 16 overs. Max Weaver was the leading bowler with excellent figures of 3 for 9, including two wickets in the last over of the innings. Harvey Watts took the other wicket. Other bowlers were Stephen Kellegher (Captain), Jack Long, Joseph McCaffrey, and Robert Anderson in his first match for the team. Stephen Kellegher and Joseph McCaffrey opened the batting and took the score to 212 without losing a wicket. The next pair in was Harvey Watts and Tom Tallant who increased the score to 224 for the loss of just one wicket. The third pair in was Jack Rutter and Jack Long who batted well together and moved the score to 248 for 1. This score included three superb fours from Jack Rutter. The final pair saw Max Weaver and Robert Anderson at the crease. Although one wicket was lost during their innings, the pairing took the score past that of Exning resulting in a closing score of 266 for 2 and a victory for Chippenham Under 11s. Max Weaver also hit three excellent fours during his innings.

Update on Weekend results

The 1st XI beat Burough Green by 3 wickets and with three balls to spare at Chippenham Park. The visitors made 188 with Matt Siggsworth taking 4-40. Chop saw us home scoring 61 not out and was supported by Liam Ward 37 and Ed Waites 32. The 2nd XI lost away at Littleport. Ollie Rix top scored for Chippenham with 71 as we posted 178. Sean Ward took two early wickets but some hard hittingfro the Littleport middle order and dropped catches meant they reached the total with 6 wks and 5 overs to spare. Sunday side beat Kirtling by 7 wks. Kirtling were bowled out for 187, Jordon Neal taking 5-21. Chippenham got home with 10 overs to spare.

Results from Wednesday fixtures

Our Midweek League team beat Tuddenham by 6 wickets at Chippenham on Wdnesday night. They managed to restrict Tuddenham to just 94 and then knocked the runs off for four wickets with Liam Ward and Eddie Waites scoring well.

Our U11 side had an exciting finish to their game at Worlington. They needed three off the last ball to win but were run out going for it. The U11 side play pairs cricket so the last ball run out cost them 5 runs so they lost by 7 runs. Below are the details of the match supples by text by Team Manager Adrian Watts.

Excellent match. Very close. Worlington batted first and scored 251 for 5. Max took 3 wickets. Jack Long ran someone out. Stephen and Joseph batted and scored 224 without losing a wicket. Harvey and Tom took the score to 242 without losing a wicket. Jack and Jack were next in and scored 6 but lost a wicket so the score was 243 with 4 overs left. James and Max were the last pair in and scored 16 but unfortunately lost 3 wickets, including a run out off the last ball. We ended up on 244 for 4 and lost by 7 runs. Overall a great team performance and a huge improvement from last week.

Update on Weekend results

Both the Saturday 1st XI and Sunday side recorded comfortable wins at the weekend. The Saturday team dismissed Saffron Walden for just 112 and knocked them off for the loss of only three wickets. The Sunday side restricted Guestingthorpe to 173 and went past there total for the loss of only two wickets. Pimlco Strollers called off the Saturday 2nd XI fixture.
