Both the first and second XI secured second league victories on Saturday.
The first XI had a tricky fixture away at Wimblington played on an artifical wicket. Batting first Chippenham struggled to put partnerships together but managered to muster 176-9 in their 40 overs. Wimbligton got off to a slow start but looked to have victory in their grasp before Andy “Big Dog” Holmes took a cruical catch on the boundary. From then on Chippenham kept things tight and Wimblington were bowled out 7 runs short of their target.
The second XI beat March VI at home with Jimmy VDP and Frank Denniff playing key roles in ensuring Chippenham reached 194 after a slow start. March looked to have a great chance before Charles Dore removed their key batsman with a surperb caught & bowled and they fell 35 runs short of the Chippenham total.
Liam Ward led Chippenham to victory on Sunday against Barrow and in doing so broke the club batting record for a single innings. Chippenham batting first made 279-1 with Liam scoring 176 N.O. and Richard Sadler also scoring a personal best of 76. This total proved far to much for Barrow and Chippenham ran out easy winners.
The 1st XI got there season off to a fine start with a good will against Histon. Fifties from Ian Richardson and Simon Heather set the innings up and a big hitting 70 from Rhys Desborough gave Chippenham a big total of 246. Then Charly Ratlay and Sam Rodman ripped through the Histon top order to ensure an easy Victory.
The newly formed 2nd team alos had a good victory scoring 197 with contribuitions right down the order. Then James VDP and William Charlton did the damage with the ball to ensure the win
