Round up of junior fixtures this week

Mixed fortunes for our Junior sides as the league season came to a close. On Saturday morning our U11s had a top of the table clash against Mildenhall, where a large victory could have secured the title. However, it wasn’t to be as a very strong Mildenhall side took early wickets and we never recovered. Overall though it has been a great season for the U11s with Mildenhall being the only side to beat them as they finished 2nd in the league.

The U9s got a hollow victory against Walsham on Tuesday who failed to turn up for the fixture. They did though play Woolpit on that evening but struggle to compete with ythe hard hitting of a couple of the Woolpit players and slipped to defeat.

On Wednesday night though our U13s had an emphatic victory at home to Exning. Beaten by Exning away early in the season we fully turned the tables bowling them out for just 38. Harvey Watts took career best figures of 5-7 off 4 overs. Early Chippenham had made 103 with james Boyle and Sean McGlone both making 33.

Round up of last weekend results

We had our best weekend so far this season with all three adult sides winning. The Saturday 1st XI had a comfortable win at homeagainst bottom of the table Barrington. A good bowling performance restricted the visitors to only 158 with Matt Siggsworth taking 5 wickets. Ollie Rix then batted throughout our innings for 80 to help see us win by 7 wkts.

The Saturday 2nd XI had a great win away at Willingham who were top of the league and unbeaten before the fixture. Some tight bowling retricted the home team to a score of 160 and a patience innings of 70 by skipper Ashley Brown laid the foundation for our victory.

On Sunday we entertained Holkham Hall who batted firsts and were bowled out for 170. In reply we always looked in control with Simon Heather batting through for 60 and good contributions from Nigel Bryant, Jimmy VDP and Andy Holmes.

Our U9s were also in action at the weekend beating Walsham away but losing to Woolpit in a very close match.
