James Broad – Chairman

Name:  James Broad

Club Role/s?

Chairman, spectator, camp follower on tour.

What does this involve?

Chairing the club is an honour, and involves sitting in The Tharp from time to time, buying the odd round, and trying to chair committee meetings.  I also engage in some enjoyable fund-raising ventures with Tim Hedger, which mainly involve sitting in The Wrestlers …

What do you do in “real life”?

I am retired.  I have some involvement with a management training company, a couple of charities, and a small dog.

How did you get involved with Chippenham Cricket Club?

I’m not altogether sure, but I am very grateful that I did.

What is your first cricketing memory?

Being taken to Chelmsford by my parents to see Essex play.  Dodds hit the first ball of the innings for 6 and was out off the third  –  normal practice for him evidently.  Trevor Bailey made 76.
