The weekend saw to important games for our Saturday teams. The 1st XI were away to Yelling in what could be desribed as a “6 pointer” as both sides were hovering just above the relagation zone. An excellent batting performance put Chippenham in charge as we made 206-7. Ollie Rix held the first half of the innings together with a fifty and then Sam Rodman and Jimmy VDP scored an unbeaten 86 partnership to make sure we set a decent total. In reply the wickest were shared around as we constantly took wickets before partnerships could develop and finally dismissed Yelling for 181 with 14 balls remaining.
A strong looking 2nd XI unfortuantly run into an even stronger Burwell 3XI, who are unbeaten this season. Burwell batting first and made a very imposing 257 and our 2nd XI were always behind the rate and finished on 144.
On Sunday, full credit must go the groundsman for getting the game on as the rain that fell would have ensured most games were postponed. A delayed start was followed with the visitors Camden batting first and setting us 179 to win in about 45 minutes and 20 overs. A bad start saw us lose 4 wickets for 26 and struggling to reach the total. However, a brillant parthership from Jimmy VDP and Paul Fishpool helped ensure we won comfortably with overs to spare.
